Tom Ellis

Tom Ellis was just recently honoured with the ‘Pop Culture Icon’ Award at this year’s Hollywood Critics Association Television Awards, an award presented to ‘celebrate an actor who has brought life to a character that is beloved within popular culture’.

He was also nominated at the awards alongside Jason Sudekis (Ted Lasso) and Michael Douglas (The Kominski Method) for the award for ‘Best Actor in a Streaming Series’ for his performance as the titular and beloved character of ‘Lucifer Morningstar’ in LUCIFER which returns for the sixth and final ever series on the 10th of September. He was also nominated as ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Villain’ at this year’s inaugural Critics Choice Super Awards.

Lucifer has remained one of Netflix’s biggest acquisitions since the streaming platform took on the series. Season 5 part 1 was named as the best debut ever for a TV show on Netflix at the time, topping their top 10 list across the world, from Brazil to the Philippines, Italy to Chile and Tom just recently returned for season 5 part 2 which shot straight to number 1 in the Netflix streaming chart in the US.

Tom returns to his executive producer role in Netflix’s most streamed series of 2019, beating out titles such as ‘Stranger Things’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘Sex Education’. Following Netflix’s acquisition of the cult series, series three and four both earned 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes with Tom cited as ‘burning up the screen’ with ‘just the right mix of smarm and raffish self-awareness’ by The Telegraph and ‘devilish charm incarnate’ by the New York Times.

He is currently filming a leading role in PLAYERS, a romantic comedy from Netflix co-starring Gina Rodriguez (Jane The Virgin) and Damon Wayans Jr (Happing Endings). The plot follows Chicago sportswriter Mack (Rodriguez) who has spent years devising successful hook-up “plays” with best friend Adam (Wayans Jr.) and their crew, but when she unexpectedly falls head-over-heels for one of her targets  (Ellis), they all must learn what it takes to go from simply scoring to playing for keeps.

He was also nominated for a Golden Nymph Award as Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series at the Monte Carlo TV Festival for his role in MIRANDA. He also took on the title role in the acclaimed US series RUSH, playing renegade physician ‘Dr William Rush’, a morally ambigious doctor for hire. He recently starred in the Netflix hit ISN’T IT ROMANTIC with Rebel Wilson and has taken on roles in THE STRAIN and FAMILY GUY as well as BAFTA winning series THE FADES.

Tom has an impactful social reach, with 9.8 million Instagram followers and 1 million Twitter followers. He’s just recently partnered with clothing brand Rupert and Buckley for an exclusive clothing range with all profits donated to Great Ormond Street Children Hospital’s Charity and, in just a matter of days, raised almost £100,000 for the cause.
