Sally El Hosaini

Winner of the Most Promising Newcomer award at the British Evening Standard Film Awards 2013 and Best Newcomer at the BFI London Film Festival 2012, Sally El Hosaini is one of the UK’s brightest new filmmaking talents. Variety featured her as one of their “10 Brits to Watch in 2014”. She was also awarded the UK New Talent Award by Women in Film & Television and nominated for the Douglas Hickox award at the British Independent Film Awards and the Sutherland Trophy at London Film Festival. Her critically acclaimed debut feature film, My Brother The Devil, picked up major prizes at Berlin and Sundance. It screened at over 40 festivals around the world, winning 12 awards, 17 nominations and an honourable mention. The film was released theatrically in the UK, US, Canada and Germany. One of Screen International’s UK Stars of Tomorrow 2009, her short film, The Fifth Bowl, won a regional BAFTA and another short, Henna Night was officially selected for LLGFF and in competition at Rotterdam and Raindance. Prior to this she was a script editor at BBC Drama, a production coordinator in features and worked on several Middle East documentaries.
