Richard Billingham

Growing up in the West Midlands, Richard Billingham is probably best known for his photography and art, having been shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2001, but in 2018 he stepped into world of film, writing and directing his debut release Ray and Liz. The film looks at the economic and social depravation Billingham encountered while growing up and his personal, heartfelt account was met with critical acclaim, including two BIFA wins, one for Billingham himself in the Best Debut Director category and another for the film’s producer Jacqui Davies in the Breakthrough Producer category.
