Ray Panthaki

Awarded the accolade of Bafta Breakthrough Brit in 2014, Ray Panthaki is a British actor, producer, writer and director. Among his producorial achievements, he executive produced Philip Barantini’s single-shot UK indie drama Boiling Point through his company Urban Way. The film went on to achieve 11 British Independent Film Awards nominations, including for Panthaki as supporting actor, and four Bafta nominations, including outstanding British film.

Unfulfilled with the roles being offered as a British Asian actor, Panthaki set up Urban Way from his back bedroom at the age of 23, and he earned his first feature producing credit as co-producer of Mehaj Huda’s Kidulthood in 2006. He produced Keri Collin’s Convenience (2013), winner of a Bafta Cymru award.

Panthaki recently announced the formation of Le Bateau Lavoir, a new auteur- driven production and finance house alongside art veteran Daniel Khalili. Amongst their slate is the highly anticipated Prince Naseem Hamed biopic.

As an actor, Panthaki’s screen credits include Wash Westmoreland’s Colette (2018) alongside Keira Knightley and Dominc West and Gavin Hood’s Official Secrets (2019) alongside Matt Smith, Ralph Fiennes and Keira Knighley . Recent credits include astronaut drama Away alongside Hilary Swank for Netflix, three seasons of Netflix detective drama Marcella, and Gangs of London for Sky. He currently stars alongside Samantha Morton in Starz’ The Serpent Queen.
