Peter Mackie Burns
Peter Mackie Burns is an award- winning director whose films have screened at many festivals including Berlin, Venice, Telluride, Busan and SXSW. Milk, starring Oscar winner Brenda Fricker, won the Golden Bear for Best Short Film at the Berlin Film Festival.
Daphne, Peter’s debut fiction feature, premiered at Rotterdam in Jan 2017 and played at SXSW. The film starring Emily Beecham won Best Screenplay Award at the Valetta International Film Festival and also Best Female Performance in a British film at EIFF and Torino IFF and was released by Altitude Films.
Rialto starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Tom Glynn-Carney and Monica Dolan premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, in the Orrizonti Competition in September 2019. It received two Irish Film and Television Awards for Best Leading Actor (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) and Best Screenplay (Mark O’Halloran) and was released in UK and Ireland by Break Out Films and in the US by Breaking Glass in 2020. Peter currently has a number of projects in development with The Bureau Films and a television comedy drama with BBC Studios.
