Naomi Ackie
Screen International Star of Tomorrow Naomi Ackie won the British Independent Film Award for ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ in 2017 for her film debut and ‘quietly stunning role’ in LADY MACBETH (Screen International). On the 20th of December 2019, she will take on a leading role in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX, directed by J.J.Abrams, joining returning cast members including Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and John Boyega and new cast including Matt Smith, Keri Russell and Richard E.Grant. She has also completed filming a leading role in THE CORRUPTED which will see her star opposite Sam Claflin in the London-set crime thriller as an ex-con is determined to rebuild his life after losing everything at the hands of a local crime syndicate.
Naomi was most recently seen in Idris Elba’s directorial film debut YARDIE, based on the 1992 debut novel by Jamaican-born British writer Victor Headley. For television, she recently took on a key role in the Channel4 series THE BISEXUAL, written, directed and starring Desiree Akhavan alongside Maxine Peake. Her further credits include CLEAN BREAK for ITV and DOCTOR WHO for the BBC as well as DAMILOLA, OUR LOVED BOY that won Best Single Drama at the BAFTA Television Awards.
