Mrs and Mr Thomas

Mrs & Mr Thomas (Nell & Dave) are a wife-and-husband writing team known for their darkly comic and dramatic films that explore the hidden struggles of modern life. With 20 years of experience in both documentary and drama, their work blends sharp social commentary with gripping storytelling.

Their feature film The Assessment, a dystopian sci-fi thriller starring Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Olsen, is produced by Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen of Number 9 Films & directed by Fleur Fortuné. Set in a world ravaged by climate change, the story follows a mandatory seven-day test that determines whether would-be parents are allowed to have a child. Inspired by their own experiences as parents (“shouldn’t there be a test for this?”), The Assessment premiered at TIFF and LFF, earning three BIFA nominations (and one win for production design), including Best Debut Screenplay. It is set for release in spring 2025.
