Damian Lewis
In 2000 Damian Lewis landed the lead role of Major Richard Winters in HBO’s Band Of Brothers and was nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Globes and won the FITA D’OR Best Actor award. Lawrence Kasdan then cast Damian in the lead role of Jonesy in his and William Goldman’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Dreamcatcher. Since then Damian has moved effortlessly between high profile TV projects and feature films. The Forsyte Saga gripped the nation, Lasse Halstrom then asked Damian to work with him on Miramax’s An Unfinished Life along side Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Lopez. Later that summer Damian went to Greece and played the lead in a Martin Scorsese produced film, Brides. Other film projects include: Keane, The Situation and Martha Fiennes’ Chromophobia. Damian has taken lead roles in several “Event” TV projects including Colditz, Guy Jenkin’s Jeffrey Archer-The Truth, Peter Kosminsky’s Warriors, Much Ado About Nothing and Stephen Poliakoff’s latest film for TV, Friends And Crocodiles. In 2004, Damian appeared as Simon Fuller in the hilarious Alistair McGowan Christmas Special. Aside from Damian’s impressive screen work he has done a considerable amount on stage including: School For Wives (Almeida), Into The Woods (Donmar), Laertes to Ralph Fiennes’ Hamlet (Broadway), Damian then went to the RSC for 2 years. Last year Damian appeared in Five Gold Rings at the Almeida and at the Royal National Theatre as the lead role in Ibsen’s Pillars Of The Community. Lewis has just finished starring in and co-producing his next project, The Baker. The film is written and directed by his brother Gareth.
