Aneil Karia

Award-winning film, TV and music video director Aneil Karia’s THE LONG GOODBYE recently won the Academy Award for Best Narrative Short Film as well as the British Independent Film Award for Best Short, the London Critics’ Circle award for Best Short, Best Short at Raindance FF and Best Special Music Video at the Music Video Awards (an award which he also won the previous year for his collaboration with artist Kano on TROUBLE).

His debut feature SURGE, financed by BBC Films and BFI and starring Ben Whishaw, premiered at Sundance in January 2020, where Whishaw won the Special Jury Prize for Acting.

Aneil was BAFTA nominated for Best Breakthrough in television directing the final episodes of TOP BOY and setting up PURE. He is currently in production on heist series THE GOLD for BBC1 and Paramount.

He is attached to direct feature film HAMLET starring Riz Ahmed, Morfydd Clark and Joe Alwyn.
