THE ROLE

The British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) is an annual award ceremony celebrating the best in independently made British film. The Awards have a particular focus on highlighting the most promising new filmmaking talent emerging in the UK and supporting the development of those individuals. BIFA also coordinates an extensive suite of talent development training for emerging filmmakers, including the Springboard Programme, and ED&I training courses. As well as the annual award ceremony, BIFA promotes independent film to audiences all year round, specifically targeting under 25s. This role will primarily support the ongoing expansion of that activity on social media (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook) and via The BIFA Podcast.

BIFA are looking for a Content Creator to join our small but busy team to produce engaging and impactful video, audio and static assets for our digital channels. The role will support our work by generating original content that will be used across social media, websites and for digital marketing.

This is the ideal role for someone who is passionate about creating content to share independent film with the world. You will be a resourceful self-starter who is willing to experiment with different content styles to achieve results. You’ll need to be comfortable shooting, recording and editing social first short form video and audio, as well as interviewing talent and attending junkets and press screenings.

Hours / Terms Variable hours, 3 days per week until October and then 4-6 days a week over Awards period (Oct – mid Dec). Fixed term contract until March 2023

Working pattern Variable hours, based at the BIFA office in Golden Square, Soho

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, film and edit video on an agreed schedule and content calendar that communicates, inspires, tells stories and is highly shareable across our platforms – particularly for TikTok, Instagram and Youtube. This will include capturing/importing media, organising raw media, editing footage and sound files, creating and inserting static and motion graphics, titling, adding music/voice-over/sfx, media management and archiving project media for the BIFA team to be able to utilise across social and digital media opportunities.
  • Create static assets using the BIFA branding deck for use on social media and the website
  • Record, edit and contribute to the development of the podcast content (video and audio)
  • Live event social, with occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Attending and conducting interviews with cast/crew of campaign films at junkets and other screenings events
  • Assisting the Awards and Marketing Manager/Social Strategist with content capture at the annual awards ceremony
  • Contributing to BIFA’s annual marketing and communications strategy

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Essential
  • Highly experienced in creating short-form video content, and be an active user on TikTok and Instagram. You will be able to shoot on an iPhone, and with a camera; you will be able to record and edit sound appropriately, and possess basic animation skills
  • Experience of using both video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, and be able to edit in-app
  • Experience of using basic audio recording software in support of the BIFA Podcast
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or In-Design
  • Self-sufficient and confident in managing projects from idea to execution
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise multiple delivery deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience of working with a variety of people to get the best out of them at interviews, and ability to represent BIFA in a professional capacity at industry events
Desirable
  • Experience using audio software such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools
  • Experience in using MS Office, Gmail, Google docs, Notion and Slack
  • Experience working with high profile film/TV talent
