Monday, July 11, 2022

BIFA joined forces with Film Hub North and BFI NETWORK to celebrate the 2021 Best British Short Film Award nominees at a special screening event at Chapeltown Picture House in Manchester. The annual event celebrates the nominated films of the highly celebrated category, which has awarded filmmaking talent in the past including Aneil Karia, Riz Ahmed, Fyzal Boulifa, Prano Bailey-Bond, John Ogunmuyiwa and many others.

The event was preceded by a roundtable hosted by Film Hub North, and joined by filmmaker behind Play It Safe, Mitch Kalisa. The roundtable gave local writers, directors and producers the opportunity to connect with FHN’s Talent Development Team, before joining the screening of the five short films: FEMME, Play It Safe, Night of the Living Dread, Precious Hair & Beauty and Egúngún (Masquerade).

Find out more about the nominated films here.

The event coincided with entries opening for the
2022 Best British Short Film Award, supported by BFI NETWORK. Entries are free until 5 August, with more information and full rules/eligibility found here.
