Trophy

AWARD TROPHIES PROVIDED BY SWAROSVKI

The BAFTA mask, the Oscar statuette and the Golden Globe – all are recognised around the world as celebrating the best talent in film. Now Swarovski and BIFA are delighted to add a new trophy to this list of icons. The crystal house, whose history on the silver screen goes back 80 years and sparkles with unforgettable moments such as Dorothy tapping her crystal-encrusted ruby slippers, is a longstanding supporter of the Möet British Independent Film Awards. Swarovski invited avant-garde British design duo Fredrikson Stallard to design a signature trophy especially for BIFA which reflects the Awards’ standing in the film community and pays tribute to its finest talents.

The resulting trophy, which was created by Swarovski’s craftsmen in Austria, is a dynamic sculpture with a dramatic crystal poised centre stage within its structure.

Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, commented: “Fredrikson Stallard  are among the most talented designers working in Britain today and their work is always artistic and highly impactful. This stunning trophy for BIFA shines with the light of a golden crystal at its heart. It’s like a beacon of inspiration and it’s sure to become an iconic prize in British film making.”

Ian Stallard explained: “We wanted to create a signature trophy that will be instantly recognisable and act as a beacon to the extraordinary talent that is so plentiful within British film making today.”

The new BIFA trophy will be awarded forthe first time at the 16th Möet British Independent Film Awards ceremony, held on 8th December at Old Billingsgate and hosted by actor JamesNesbitt. It is hoped that when this year’s recipients hold it aloft, it willbecome a symbol of the stellar talents that illuminate British independent filmmaking.
