Eventive for BIFA Feature Entrants

What you need to know…

What is Eventive?

All films entered to BIFA must be available to voters online. Since 2022, BIFA has used Eventive as a host platform to provide an option for entrants to make their films available in the easiest way possible. Use of Eventive is not mandatory but it is BIFA voters’ preferred method of accessing screeners. You can find further information about Eventive here

Platform Fees

Use of Eventive is not free and incurs a charge for each film uploaded and each ‘unlock’ by voters to view it. To encourage entrants to use Eventive during the 2024 awards cycle we are simplifying billing by introducing a flat fee per film which is based on analysis of average charges for films over the past two years and applied on a scale dependent on a film’s budget and the type of film that is entered. This fee covers the previous upload fee and fees for all voter unlocks. If you choose to use Eventive, payment will be taken at point of entry at the same time as your entry fee.

2024 EVEntive rates

2024 Price Band 2024 Flat Fee*
International films with budget of <£1m £50+VAT
International films with budget of >£1m £100+VAT
British films with budget of <£1m £75+VAT
British films with budget of >£1m £150+VAT

*If film views substantially exceed the value of the flat fee, ie. for films that are nominated in a category and watched by all voters, we may ask you for a supplementary payment to cover additional viewing charges.

how it works

Once your feature entry has been accepted we will create a record for your film on the Eventive platform and email you directly from the site with an invitation to upload your film. You will only receive an invitation to upload your film if you selected Eventive on your entry form and your film has been accepted into the awards.

If you do not have an Eventive account, you will be prompted to create one. This is quick and free.

Once uploaded, BIFA Voters will be able to access the film on the Eventive platform via a link on the BIFA voting site.

You can manage – including delete –  any content you upload via the Creator Hub in your Eventive account, over which you have complete control.

The film should be available to all voters from when it is uploaded to the platform securely and throughout the period that it remains in awards contention. If you have not received an invitation to upload to Eventive within three days of receiving confirmation that your entry has been accepted into BIFA, please contact us on entry@bifa.film. If you would like to discuss imposing any restrictions on viewings of your film, please contact emma@bifa.film.

security
All BIFA voters must log in to the BIFA voting site to gain access to a film’s Eventive link. Voters are also required to log in to Eventive with a username and password to be able to access any film content once they have clicked the link. Additionally, voters are allocated a BIFA pass based on their subgroup and cannot access content on the platform unless permission has been granted for that subgroup.

The following security measures protect your content on Eventive as standard:

Invisible Forensic Watermarking
Every virtual screening on Eventive VOD is secured with a Nagra NexGuard invisible forensic watermark, identifying each individual user and session. Meaning any unauthorised use can be traced right back to the source. A pre-roll piracy warning to alert users that their unique stream can be tracked.

Multi-platform Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology
All films are secured with complete multi-platform DRM (Widevine, PlayReady, and FairPlay) to prevent unauthorised screen recording and downloads.

Other optional security features
Additional security features are available which you can discuss adding to your content directly with the Eventive team. For more information visit https://eventive.org/antipiracy
